Hooray, Mr Badger returns!

Mr Badger and the Magic Mirror, Leigh Hobbs, Allen & Unwin

I'm sure you all remember Mr Badger from his previous adventures?
Well then, you will be glad to know that he is back in fine form for the latest addition to this wonderful series for younger readers.

This one has a secret whirligig and banana cake and a moat and a hideous creature (no, not Sylvia Smothers-Carruthers) and a surprise appearance by Algernon, the no longer missing ape!
Excellent.

Little Sister Blog Tour

To celebrate the launch of her second novel for young adults - Little Sister - Aimee Said has departed on a Book Tour of some great blogs where she'll be chatting about her book over the course of this week. Check it out:

Monday: inkcrush
Tuesday: My Girl Friday
Wednesday: Literary Life
Thursday: In The Good Books
Friday: right here at The Younger Sun blog!

Little Sister:

There are just thirty-eight days until Al's smark, pretty, popular and perfect-in-every-way sister Larrie finishes Year Twelve.

Thiry-eight days until everyone at Whitlam High will stop seeing Al as Larrie's little sister and start appreciating the real Al Miller.

But when rumours about Larrie start spreading, Al discovers that having a sister everyone is talking about can be even worse than having one everybody loves.

We've read it now, and we love it. Al is funny and ever-so hard done by, desperate to shine like she's never shone before! Maybe even go out with the gorgeous Josh Turner... But when the rumour mill starts churning, people are gossiping about Larrie, Al has to work out what to believe and how to deal with it. You'll love it.

Then, on Saturday 14 May, Aimee will be at the Younger Sun (well, actually, over in the Sun Theatre) to have a bit of a party to celebrate. We'd love everyone to come along and join us!

Aimee Said Event!

Wonderful local author Aimee Said's new book is coming out in May and everyone is invited to come and celebrate it at a special Younger Sun event on Saturday 14th May at 3pm.

Free! Fun! Fab! Everyone welcome, please RSVP here.

Here's a little look at Little Sister (published by Walker Books):

Al Miller wishes she was an only child.

Al Miller is counting down the days until her over-achieving older sister Larrie finishes Year Twelve and leaves Whitlam High School for ever. Then, Al is certain, people will finally see her as more than just “Larrie’s little sister”. But when a rumour about Larrie spreads around school, Al finds herself in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. Who’s behind the rumour? And will it kill Al’s chances with school hunk, Josh Turner?

Pigeons in the Post

Pigeon Letters is an in-school letter writing exchange linking school students with Australian authors. Run over two school terms, the project facilitates a creative collaboration between the author and student, resulting in a piece of writing such as a short story, poem or comic. The final pieces are published in a professionally printed and bound book.

The Younger Sun is very pleased to be selling this marvellous book. There are 21 fantastic short stories

The authors involved this year are Kirsty Murray, Sally Rippin, Meredith Costain, Michael Pryor, Paul Collins, Gabrielle Wang, Andrew McDonald, Jen Storer, Michael Hyde, Martine Murray, Jackie Kerin, Robert Greenberg, Claire Saxby, Tony Wilson, Bernard Caleo, Mirranda Burton, Alison Lloyd, Jen Breach, George Ivanoff, Stephanie Brotchie and Sherryl Clark.
