Great New Picture Books

A Bit Lost, by Chris Haughton (Walker Books)

The little owl takes a tumble out of his nest and is lost! A friendly squirrel tries to help him find his mummy again. A very cute little story, and wonderful retro illustrations.

Mirror, Jeannie Baker (Walker Books)

A new book from Jeanne Baker - author and illustrator of the incredible collage books Where the Forest Meets the Sea, Window and Belonging (among others)

There are no cats in this book, Viviane Schwartz

We LOVED There are cats in this book! Now the cats want to get out of their book and into the wide world.

Six Impossible Things, Fiona Wood

Six Impossible Things, Fiona Wood (Pan Macmillan, $16.99)
A funny, emotionally honest story of first love, with a fairytale backbeat.

Fourteen year old nerd-boy Dan Cereill is not quite coping with a reversal of family fortune, moving house, new school hell, a mother with a failing wedding cake business, a just-out gay dad, and an impossible crush on Estelle, the girl next door. His life is a mess, but for now he's narrowed it down to just six impossible things...

"I loved this book so much I wanted to be in it." (Kaz Cooke)

"Dan Cereill is an odd sock and an absolute sweetheart. His journey through the joys and stings of first love, suburbia, humiliation and reinvention will make you smile and cheer for the underdog. It's impossible not to love this book!"(Simmone Howell, Everything Beautiful)

We LOVE this book. It is funny and clever and sweet. All the characters are people you would want to be friends with. You will love this book. Come and check it out.
Kate and Clare were lucky enough to go to the launch of Six Impossible Things last night and we got to meet Fiona, who was so nice and friendly. Kaz Cooke launched the book, and she was HILARIOUS.
